A Message From Executive Service Corps- Florida's CEO

I want to thank everyone for their generous support of our 71 for 71 Fundraiser this July. Your contribution helps us serve nonprofits in Florida, which provide numerous vital services to our communities. This year’s fundraiser was dedicated to assisting Special Compass, an all-volunteer organization that helps children and families with disabilities navigate life independently through education, sports, and housing. They received a donation of land and plan to build an affordable housing complex for people who are “differently-abled.” Executive Service Corps- Florida will support them by helping them develop a strategic plan to guide them toward achieving this important goal.

On a more personal note, your donation helped inspire and motivate me to complete my trek and push through the challenges I faced. For my 71st birthday on July 2nd, I rode my gravel bike 77 miles (I only planned to ride 71) with 2,800 feet of elevation near Park City, UT. It threatened to rain most of the day, so I left at 6:00 a.m. and was fortunate to get home before the storm hit. I documented my journey, and if you’d like to “come along for the ride,” you’ll find it here on our YouTube channel.

With gratitude
Joel Greenbaum, President & CEO

The Backstory

“71 for 71!” is Executive Service Corps- Florida’s fundraising campaign for 2025, inspired by CEO Joel Greenbaum’s 70-mile bike ride in July of 2024 to celebrate his 70th birthday. For 2025, we invited you to participate by enjoying your favorite activity while fundraising for two great organizations: ESC-FL and Special Compass. Special Compass helps children and families with disabilities navigate life through education, sports, and housing. ESC-FL transforms communities through social impact consulting.

Why it’s Important

Drastic and unpredictable funding cuts are affecting nonprofits’ ability to serve their clients. While Executive Service Corps operates on a lean budget, we still need your help and financial support to provide technical assistance to those frontline nonprofits. The current environment of uncertainty makes our work even more critical. Special Compass is at an inflection point and needs a Strategic Plan and other guidance to navigate its course forward. Your contributions will help support Special Compass and other organizations throughout Florida.
